Tennessee American Water Proposes to Purchase Water System

Chattanooga, Tenn. (March 12, 2018) – Tennessee American Water Company, which has supplied quality water from the Tennessee River for 93 years to the Town of Signal Mountain, has submitted a proposal to purchase the Town’s water system.

“Our commitment to the Town of Signal Mountain is to provide outstanding customer service, to continue delivering essential and quality water, to invest in the community including as a new taxpayer and to develop a strategic approach to upgrade the water system,” said Val Armstrong, president of Tennessee American Water.

“Our water quality record speaks for itself,” Ms. Armstrong said. “In our 130-year history serving the greater Chattanooga community, we have not had a violation with our regulators. We participate in the voluntary Partnership for Safe Drinking Water, challenging ourselves to surpass EPA standards and we do.”

She said there are significant advantages for the Town to approve Tennessee American Water’s proposal.

“With Tennessee American Water as an even more engaged partner, the Town will free up funds designated for water infrastructure and reinvest them in other community priorities,” Ms. Armstrong said. “The Town will also gain a new taxpayer that will provide even more support for community-based initiatives.”

Whitwell Mayor Linda Hooper said, “Tennessee American Water is a great community partner and provides excellent customer service. The majority of our workers are former City employees and they know our system and our needs. Our water company employees not only work here, but they live here and take great pride in providing excellent service.”

Our 24/7 customer service center stands ready to answer questions and respond to any system issues in a timely and professional manner. Tennessee American has developed a website for Signal Mountain residents to learn more, www.localfor93.com. Information is also available on our Facebook and Twitter pages, @tnamwater, as well as our company website, www.tennesseeamwater.com.

“These information sites provide facts that support our proposal and our local commitment for 93 years on Signal Mountain and more than 130 years in the greater Chattanooga community in providing quality water at a reasonable price.”

“Tennessee American Water draws on decades of exceptional service in its Chattanooga water operations with an award-winning water treatment facility, experienced water professionals and a strategic approach to invest in infrastructure improvements through the use of new technologies,” Ms. Armstrong said.

“At Tennessee American Water, we know that water is essential,” she said. “For 93 years, we have been the local source of water for Signal Mountain and we look forward to the opportunity to expand our partnership with the Mountain residents."

“The Signal Mountain town council can stay local with Tennessee American Water, a partner for 93 years,” Ms. Armstrong said.
